In The Zone

Things are going much better here with the new baby. He is yowling right now, because he doesn't care to be left all alone in his quarters. Hopefully his period of confinement won't have to go much longer, but until he's more comfortable with the human residents around here, this level of confinement is best for him. Given his scaredy-cat nature, he would be overwhelmed having the run of this place.

He doesn't spend much time alone at a stretch, the worst being when I am gone to work. Well, and last Sunday when we went to that funeral in Tuscaloosa. Otherwise he doesn't go more than 3 hours without some company.

I have been joking in email with Robyn about The Zone of the Window of Safety. Reacher seems to have chosen the window behind the blind as his safe place when I am in the room. He'll fly out of wherever he is and get up to the window. If he leaves there and gets scared, you know, like if I cast my eyes upon him (OMG), back to the window he goes.

He went from that to standing on the litter box right in front of the window, and then to coming over by my desk which is, technically, just inches from The Zone. I have spent long hours sitting and laying in the floor, but what seemed to bring him out was sitting near The Zone of the Window of Safety and hold out a hand, which he cannot resist.

Later tonight, I sat across the room from the Zone, in my wingback chair, and lo and behold, he scaled the front of the chair and made his way into my lap.

The end.

Just kidding! But I do have to go. More later!

Thanks to everybody who's commented with suggestions and well-wishes. I think we are on the right track!
