It's really weird not to speak my father's native language, Arabic. Last time the Maronite priest called to check on him, we asked him to speak to Dad in Arabic next time he visited the hospital. He visited today, along with one of the church deacons, and spoke exclusively Arabic. The difference in my father's responsiveness was remarkable. I have no clue what the priest said to my father, none whatsoever, but my father was wagging his head like crazy in response to the questions and comments. ( Read more... )
